Underwater ROV
Every spring for the past 8 years, the MakerSpace has hosted teams as they prepare for the annual MATE ROV regional competition. Teams are made up of 3-6 students in grades 5th-12th and participation is open to any child in our region.
That’s a wrap for 2026! Twenty-two students from the MakerSpace competed in the Oregon Regional Underwater ROV competition held at the Newport Rec Center on May 9th. Three of our five squads were all-girl teams and every team came home with a trophy, ranging from 1st to 3rd place in two age divisions.
Project Invent
Project Invent teams from across the U.S. pitch the solution they’ve created for their community partner to a panel of judges from the tech industry, hoping to win funds to develop their product. For five years straight, teams from White Salmon have convinced judges to invest in their idea!

The next Project Invent teams will form in September 2026 and compete in May 2027.
